| Good code, good programming is probably the biggest problem we see with most of the websites that we optimize. Most modern html or website editors (including Adobe, Dreamweaver, Microsoft and a myriad of others) do not produce the best "code" for good search engine placement. All of these editors will allow you to create good code, it does however require knowledge of html, php, asp or whatever outside of what the editor provides. Most website designers are good at designing, that is why they have their jobs and create fantastic looking sites. Just like beautiful men and women though, fantastic on the outside does not necessarily mean fantastic on the inside. Internet browsers like Microsoft and Netscape are very tolerant of errors that appear in the code of webpages and for that matter most visitors are as well and can be very forgiving when it comes to a page not displaying correctly or having some sort of script error. Allowing programming or code errors to go unchecked in a search engine optimization project can mean almost certain failure. As search engine optimizers we recognize that search engines are machines and can only be programmed to tolerate a limited set of errors. One of the many services we offer as part of our projects is to validate the code insuring that search engines can read it and all of the content that appears on your website. In fact, we make every attempt to have search engines prefer your the code on our clients sites. We go through the engineering effort necessary to code a page in a way that is search engine friendly. One of the first efforts on any website is to reduce the code clutter in a site resulting in web pages that are easier for search engines to read and have an additional benefit of being faster loading for visitors. Eliminating code clutter also has a positive affect many times allowing older Internet browser software to tolerate more advanced programming techniques and content. Our experience optimizing webistes has allowed us to work with a wide variety of websites including those that are frame based, database driven and those from content management systems. We have a range of skills that not only allow us to work with standard html, but also languages like perl, php and coldfusion. |
